Petroleum Laboratory Chemist

I am a skilled professional specializing in the analysis and testing of petroleum samples in a Laboratory setting. My role is vital in ensuring the quality, compliance and performance of petroleum products within the Oil and Gas Industry.

In my daily work i receive and handle various samples including crude Oil, refined products and natural gas. I carefully prepare and analyse these samples using a variety of laboratory techniques and equipment to asses their composition, properties and adherence to industry standards.

As a Laboratory Analyst at SGS, i played a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of laboratory results. SGS is one of the leading inspection, verification, testing and certification company that serves various industries including Oil and Gas, Minerals, Agriculture and Environment, My roles included;

1. Sample Analysis
I was responsible for conducting tests and analysis on various petroleum samples following established procedures and protocols. This involved using advanced laboratory equipment and and techniques.

2. Quality Assurance.
As a Laboratory Analyst I was expected to adhere to strict Quality assurance and quality control measures to ensure accurate and reliable results. This included conducting various equipment verification, participating in proficiency testing programs and following standardized procedures to minimize errors and ensure consistent performance.

3. Data Management.
Accurate and detailed documentation is essential in laboratory environment, I was responsible for recording and maintaining precise records of test procedures, Parameters and test reports. This included proper organisation and management of test data, ensuring traceability and adhering to data integrity and confidentiality protocols

4. Compliance with Safety and Regulatory Standards.
Adhering to strict safety protocols, including handling hazardous materials and maintaining a clean and safe working environment inline with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).

5. Collaboration and Communication.
Work hand in hand with colleagues, supervisors and clients to effectively communicate test results, address any concerns or deviations and provide technical guidance or support when needed.

Intertek Testing Services is a Multinational company that provides a wide range of testing, Inspection, Certification and Quality assurance services in various industries, including consumer goods, chemical, energy, construction etc. Duties include;

1. Laboratory Testing.
Performing a variety of tests on samples using established laboratory techniques, methodologies and equipment. This could involve conducting chemical, Physical or mechanical analysis depending on the nature of the samples.

2. Sample Preparation.
Properly prepare samples for testing by following specific protocols and procedures, this may have involved handling, weighing, measuring, mixing, diluting or extracting target components from samples. Ensuring accuracy and adherence to Standard Operating Procedures and ISO 17025.

3. Quality Control and Assurance.
Ensuring that all laboratory procedures and testing protocols are followed accurately to maintain the integrity and reliability of test results. This included implementing quality control measure, using appropriate calibration techniques and verifying the accuracy of equipment and instruments.

4. Data Analysis and Interpretation.
Analysis test results obtained from samples and interpreting the data to draw meaningful conclusions. This involved using statistical methods, software tools, or established analytical procedures to asses and report findings accurately.
