Deputy manager – Quality Assurance and Food Safety
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Lead a team of 4 Quality Controllers in doing quality control on incoming raw materials; (kraft paper, glue, ink), in process checks and documentation, job approvals, doing traceability records, preparation of COAs during dispatch, inspection of Finished products, etc.
• Lead a team of 7 house keepers in doing daily go - down cleaning, 5S, garbage and waste management, staff facilities cleaning, cleaning guest rooms and training rooms etc.
• Doing performance appraisals and target setting to my subordinate staff.
• Design, Review and Verification of Quality Control documents as well as food safety records e.g., traceability checklists, job approval forms, in process check lists, incoming raw material check records, daily hand wash records, go down cleaning checklists, pest control and monitoring checks, staff facility cleaning records, positive releases etc.
• Principal assistant in leading internal as well as external inhouse auditors’ trainings, audit preparation and carrying out the real audits.
• Prepare and lead teams of external inspectors on goods meant for export.
• Train and do refreshers on all shop floor guys on maintaining good quality products as well as maintaining good housekeeping.
• Lead teams in doing root cause analyses every time there is customer complaints.
• Liaise with sales teams in addressing customer complaints, doing product replacements and organizing for customer visits.
• Custodian and Chief technician in carrying out tests and maintaining testing – equipment (burst tester, gsm tester, tensile strength tester, etc.)
• Liaise with external bodies (legal and service providers) during certifications, inspections, scheduled calibrations and export applications.
Assistant Quality Assurance
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Effectively monitoring biscuit packaging process and report any non-compliances. • Ensuring in process inspection and OPRP Monitoring.
• Supervising hygiene,5S and general housekeeping in regard to the work in progress, spillovers, consumables, Product Damage, PPE’s, Wear and Tear among others.
• Monitoring the oven temperature, pre-heat temperatures and baking time effectively.
• Conducting online monitoring on biscuits for shape control, gauge, brittleness, size and weight for efficient packaging-machine performance.
• Implementing standards, training Logs, startup protocols etc. SOPs in the Biscuit Plant.
• Effectively Overseeing the Dough mix and cream paste preparation procedure to ensure conformity, monitoring wet weights in relation to dry weights after baking.
• Drafting Reports on a daily basis in regard to the quality measures, quality issues arising for every packaging machine and the product online, oven temperature monitoring, machine performance, process control-RFT for molding, cooling, stacking and packing in the biscuit plant and submit to the quality Manager.
• Monitoring and implementing on line Hand Sanitization, machine sanitization.
• Training and doing refreshers to employees on startup protocols,5s, filling in production documents, packaging/defects monitoring and presentations for different brands and SKUs.
• Any other duties as assigned.
