Microbiology Analyst
As a Microbiology analyst, my role is instrumental in verifying the safety and quality of products:
• I ensure the general implementation of ISO 17025 requirements at SGS Multi-Lab.
• Using modern techniques and equipment, I analyze samples for Microbial & Hygiene Safety.
• I document analysis results, issue test reports and assist in results interpretation where necessary.
• I also actively participate in the development, validation and verification of test methods in use.
• I carry out internal quality controls and take corrective actions where necessary.
• I participate in national and international proficiency testing schemes and as requested by clients.
• I’m also responsible for the maintenance of equipment and ensuring Good Laboratory Practices
Food and Dairy Hygiene Analyst
My role revolved around ensuring safety and quality of food & dairy products, and environmental samples:
• I conducted sampling and testing of food and water from processing facilities and hotels.
• I took part in hygiene assessment of food/dairy processing industries and hotels.
• Analyzed of samples for Microbial Safety including contaminants, pathogens and Aflatoxins.
• I issued analysis test reports and provided guidance on best practice/corrective actions to clients.
• In the lab, I performed internal quality controls to ensure validity of test results.
• I monitored documentation and reviewed of test procedures to ensure that they are up-to-date.
• My tasks also included equipment maintenance and the general implementation of ISO 17025.
Food Microbiologist & Molecular Biology Analyst
My role combined the precision of microbiological analysis with the depth of molecular techniques:
• I conducted thorough assessment of food samples to detect and quantify microorganisms in food.
• My work involved culturing, enumeration & detection of microbes using ISO standard methods.
• On molecular biology front, I leveraged advanced techniques such as PCR & DNA sequencing to identify and determine the genetic makeup of foodborne pathogens and spoilage microbes.
• I participated in market surveillance activities and sampling of horticultural products and water.
• I also collaborated closely with cross-factional teams to verify new and existing test methods.
• I was responsible for stock taking, maintaining records and data entry to facilitate smooth operation of the laboratory and timely reporting to test results.
